Vision of Temple in the community

Our Community of Shamsher Nagar always felt a need for common cultural place for community to meet and greet in their happiness and sorrow. Being an ardent Lord Shiva Devotee, Santosh Kumar Verma envisioned a Lord Shiva Temple in the community which will also serve as a Sanatan Culture Center. There was no Shiv Temple at that time in 20 KM radius. Many other devotees of Lord Shiva were always longing for this.

Purchase of Land
In March 1990 all residents came together and discussed the necessary arrangement for construction of Temple. Land was the primary requirement to fulfil this dream. Mr Santosh Verma shared his vision with Mr. Om Dutt Sharma and He donated the land in the name of his Late father Deen Dayal Retired Pharmacist of Village Moholi Kalan Distt. Sangrur. Mr. Deen Dayal who was fondly known as “Doctor Sahib” was a great community enthusiast. He established the village community well to provide clean water in his native village of Moholi. He served and touched various lives through his profession in the Villages Halwara, Noorpur Bet, Gujjarwal and Moholi Kalan.

Birth of” Shri Shiv Deen Dayal Mandir”
After the brief discussion on the name of the temple shri Shiv Deen Dayal Mandir was adopted on this and since then Mandir has been a source for refuge for many, Lord Shiva blessed many community causes and weddings in this temple and Devotees has been increasing since then in leaps and bounds. Many devotees feel that “ Bhole Baba” at this location has special blessings. We had an immense contribution from Sood Family and Goyal Family to take this temple to modern form.

Site Developments
Through a process of discussion ultimately it was decided to have Sri Shiva as presiding deity and there will be other deities Shri Ram Parivar, Ma Jagdambay , Shri Hanuman and Shri Radhe Krishan has blessed the temple in their Divine and expressed forms. ‘The first pooja at the temple – the groundbreaking ceremony was performed in early 1990. A ‘Bhoomi Pooja’ ceremony was performed to invoke the blessings of the Gods. From then onwards events like Mahashivratri , Diwali , Janamashtami, Ram Navami has been main celebrations of temple along with many preeti bhoj and other community gathering. Sood Family and Goyal family of Ludhiana were the Yajman for pran-pratishtha of Deities.
Temple as grew bought the adjacent lots in the recent years to expand the temple and construct the big mandir hall with all the amenities.

Further Developments

The building activity at the temple has never stopped. We always have done some thing. In the year 2020, We have envisioned to create a Sanatan Culture center along with temple at the site so we have approached various donors. Shri Om Dutt Sharma has Donated 500,000 Rs to Develop the initial Drawings and development of the Center in the name of her late wife Shrimati Suresht Dutt. Since our building has been more than 30 years old and street floor laying is higher than the temple floor so management decided to undertake through renovation project for temple and make it zero carbon footprint building which will include new deities, halls, elevators, solar power, Yagya Shala, Mediatation Room, Kitchen and Washrooms storage. Management envision this as a small state of the art facility which will not only benefit the residents of Shamsher Nagar but also community at large.

Management
The running of the Shri Shiv Deen Dayal temple is in the hands of the management committee of the Shri Shiv Deen Dayal Mandir Trust. There are a number of sub-committees e.g. Finance, Temple Building, Maintenance, Corporate Affairs etc to advise the management committee in various matters. We always look for new membership in our always growing facilities. Membership is open to all that subscribe to the objectives of the Trust. Management committee members are elected annually,
Hari Om.
